REGULATION  FOR  BACHELOR  OF ARTS, SCIENCE AND COMMERCE EXAMINATION

(Three Year Degree course)

 

  1. The Three year degree course leading to the Bachelors degree in Arts / Science / Commerce of Utkal University shall be spread over a period of three academic years. A candidate for the Bachelors degree in Arts / Science / Commerce shall be required to pass the following examinations.

(i)                  First University Examination

(ii)                Second University Examination

(iii)               Final University Examination

      A pass student shall offer one pass subject 400 marks in addition to compulsory & elective papers. Each student shall offer two Elective subjects. Each elective subject consists of two papers each carrying 100 marks.

A candidate in B.A. (Hons.) shall offer an Hons. Subject carrying 800 marks and tow elective subjects besides compulsory subjects. Each elective subjects shall consist of two papers each carrying 100 marks.

A candidate (Hons. Or Pass) shall choose two elective subjects, each carrying 200 marks (without any practical component) from among the following subjects.

Indian polity, Indian Economy, Land marks in Indian History, Oriya.

A B.Sc. (Hons.) student shall choose an Honours subject carrying 800 marks, one pass subject carrying 400 marks, one minor elective carrying 100 marks & one major elective of 200 marks consisting of two papers each carrying 100 marks besides compulsory papers. Subject (s) with practical shall carry 75% theory and 25% practical.

Minor Elective Papers : In science (both pass & Hons.), a student with Life Science (botany / Zoology etc) as pass or Honours shall take one Minor elective Paper on Mathematics for Biology Students” carrying 100 marks where as the other students (of Physical Sciences) shall take “Biology for Physical sciences students” as Minor Elective carrying 100 marks.

A B.Sc. (Pass) student shall choose one subject as major elective from among the following subjects or other subject(s), to be decided by the University according to suitability & availability of subjects in the college, carrying 200 marks with two papers of 100 marks each (without any practical component)

Bio-Technology (to be taught by Biology teachers) Disaster Management (to be taught by all groups of science teachers) Industrial Chemistry (to be taught by Chemistry teachers) Pisciculture (to be taught by Biology teachers) Computer Application (to be taught by teacher in physics & Mathematics where computer science teachers are not available) Life Science (covering Botany, Zoology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, environmental biology etc, to be taught by Biology teachers) Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Statistics, Geography, Psychology, Environmental science provided that a student (Hons or Pass) and of the subjects like Life Science, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Statistics, Anthropology, Geography, psychology, environmental Science as Hons. Or Pass shall not be allowed to offer corresponding subject as Major elective paper.

In B.A. / B.Sc. / B. Com. Pass subject(s) with practical carrying 400 marks following distribution of marks shall be made.

Paper – I = 75 (Theory), Paper – II = 75 (Theory), P – III = 50 (Practical), Paper – IV = 75 (Theory),  Paper – V = 75 (Theory) and Paper – VI  = 50 (Practical)

And the distribution of papers shall be made accordingly so as to confirm the year wise mark distribution.

Elective subject shall not carry practical component.

A candidate shall be allowed to offer any one of the following MILs Oriya, Hindi, Bengali, Telugu & Urdu provided that a candidate shall be allowed to offer Alternative English in lieu of MIL.
